Moving to Sydney

At 10:30pm tonight I will be getting on a plane to relocate to Sydney, Australia. The bags are packed, and I'm looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life. As of Monday, my company was acquired by Thomson Reuters, and I will be working as an independent consultant for them.

I'm looking forward to getting involve with all of you in the CF community when I arrive. Don't be a stranger, please introduce yourselves as I hardly know anyone there. I'm really hoping that I can win a pass to @webdu in their twitter competition, it would be a great opportunity to make some connections. If you're on twitter I wouldn't mind a shameless plug for a ticket :) (@mikeschierberl).

Additionally, if you are in Sydney, I'd love recommendations on things to do/see from a locals perspective. I've been there a few times, but I will be coming with a clean slate and an open mind.

I'm super jealous! I almost moved to Sydney for my job about 12 years ago. Which part of Sydney? Circular Queue was great back then, as were the various neighborhoods. Get used to riding the train...it's the best way to get around, and it's awesome.

Hey Mate - give me a shout when you get here. I too am a Sydney transplant from the bay area. I am working for Daemon (the webdu guys). I'll try to put in a good word for you - though I have very little pull :)

Mike, good luck with the move and congratulations on being acquired by Thompson Reuter I did some work for them a couple of months ago.

I hope you make it to WebDU I will be in Sydney as i am presenting there.

@Jeff, My Girlfriend had a great job opportunity and we couldn't pass up the chance to move. Still a lot of things to figure out, but we're pretty excited.

@Rob, thanks for the welcome, just arrived and we're still getting settled, I'll try to connect sometime next week.
